Types & Causes

Ganglion Cysts

Ganglion cysts are fluid-filled sacs that most commonly develop along tendons or joints of the foot and ankle. They may fluctuate in size and can cause pain or pressure depending on their location.

Soft Tissue Masses

Soft tissue masses on the foot may include lipomas, fibromas, or other benign growths. While most are non-cancerous, any new or changing lump on the foot should be evaluated by a podiatrist.

Plantar Fibromas

A plantar fibroma is a benign fibrous growth that develops within the plantar fascia on the bottom of the foot. It may feel like a firm nodule and can cause discomfort with walking or shoe pressure.
